Gijs Klomp holds a master degree in real estate management from the Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands. In addition to his master degree he has completed a postgraduate course in real estate investment analysis at the Amsterdam School of Real Estate. Being with ING REIM since his graduation, Gijs has started his career as a research analyst at the Research & Strategy Department at the Dutch head office in The Hague. His responsibilities included acquisition research, portfolio benchmarking, marketing and product development. In 2005, he chose to pursue an opportunity at the Central European head office of the company where he became responsible for acquisition and strategic research (new products), as well as portfolio analysis and valuations for the CEE region. When ING REIM decided to enter Romania, Gijs, who had been living in that country in the past, moved, back in order to set up the Romanian office of ING REIM. The Romanian market is considered a promising market with significant long-term growth potential by ING REIM. It was decided that a local office was needed in order to source quality assets in this emerging market and also to be able to deliver the active asset management that is so fundamentally important for ING REIM's investment philosophy. The Romanian office currently has a staff of three dedicated professionals that are all very familiar with the local and international business environment in their respective disciplines. ING REIM has so far acquired one shopping centre.
